You are at an increased risk of breast cancer if any of the following statements applies to you:
- One member of your immediate family (mother or sister) developed breast cancer under the age of 40 years.
- Two members of your immediate or close family (grandparents, aunt, niece) on the same side of the family developed breast cancer under 60 years of age, or developed ovarian cancer at any age.
- One member of the family (immediate or close) developed both breast and ovarian cancer.
- Three members of the family (immediate or close) on the same side of the family developed either breast or ovarian cancer at any age.
- A member of your immediate family developed breast cancer in both breasts under the age of 60.
- A male relative in your immediate family (brother or father) developed breast cancer at any age.
- An identified faulty gene.
